Q&A
What is the Android Stick
It is a small gadget - the same size as a USB Disk-on-Key - with full Android capabilities and multimedia services. It has a Wi-Fi connection to the internet and an HDMI connection to a television - making every TV a Smart TV.
The device can stream HD video from the internet, local disk drive, USB key or any computer or mobile device connected to the home network. Android applications and games can be downloaded from the internet.
The main usage for the device is in the living room: watch movies, play games and surf the Internet
Technical Description
The Android Stick connects to the HDMI port of a TV. On the other side a USB port connects to an external mass-storage devices such as a Disk-on-Key or USB hard disk drive. There is also a slot for a Micro SD memory card (TF Card). A mini-USB connector is used for power. The Android Stick comes with a wireless mouse or keyboard. An integrated Wi-Fi 802.11n provides connection to the Internet.
With a size of only 89 x 33 x 16mm and a weight of 38g it can be easily carried while traveling and be used anywhere. It is true plug and play solution.
What Can It Do?
The main functions of the Android Stick multimedia HDMI stick are the same as of those of the Android TV box or the Google TV:
- Surf the Internet with a full Android browser to access any website for entertainment, information or education.
- Watch YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon or any other video site or video-on-demand services.
- Chat with Facebook or Twitter and use Skype for video conferencing (a USB camera is needed).
- Access the Android app-store to download, install and run the huge number of Android applications available.
- Stream HD video, music and images from local memory or from any computer or mobile device at home (DLNA).
How to Use the Stick ?
Plug it into the HDMI port of a HDTV or LCD monitor
Power it on by connecting Micro USB cable (power from HDTV's USB port, or power adapter)
Control it by any ordinary USB mouse, just like use a PC, to surf the web, watch movie ...
Beside USB mouse, there are several kinds or remote controls that can be used with the Android Stick:
Wireless mouse.
Smart phones
Wireless mini keyboard with Fly mouse
Wireless Mini Keyboard with touch pad
IR Remoter
Mouse
A standard mouse (wired or wireless), like is used on any PC, can work with the device. If wireless, it is RF 2.4GHz and has a small USB dongle that needs to be connected to the Android Stick. Even some people think that a mouse is not suitable when you are watching TV in the living room, from our experience it is the best remote control available, especially when you want to play games.
