 <p>Teck, one of&nbsp; the world&rsquo;s top 20 mining companies, plans to keep the mine open until at least 2025. It once had plans for the closure of Highland Valley, Canada&rsquo;s largest copper mine which was considered uneconomic. What has changed its mind? Why do so many foreign mining entrepreneurs choose China as their partner? There are some reasons contributing to this. On the one hand, China consumes 40 per cent of the world&rsquo;s copper; up from about nine per cent in 2002 .So markets in Asia have a great appetite for the demand of both coal and cooper. And a data shows that coal was responsible for 46 per cent of net revenue within the sector in 2010 and copper 21 per cent. At the same time, Teck&rsquo;s mines offer vast tonnes of black steelmaking coal in southeast British Columbia and Alberta that await shipment to hungry markets in Asia.
