Canine Rabies Virus CRV Ag Test / One Step Diagnosic Test
General information
Rabies virus is a very successful virus, with a very wide range of hosts. It causes an acute, central nervous system infection, characterized by CNS irritation, followed by paralysis and death. Approximately 50,000 human deaths each year are caused by rabies.
Principle of test
The APetCare Canine Rabies Virus Ag Test is a rapid one-step test based on immuno-chromatographic assay for the detection of canine Rabies virus (CRV) IgG antibody in serum and plasma, which is used to evaluate canine’s vaccination effectiveness, judge canine’s resistance to Rabies, and determine the time for further re-boost of vaccination.
Specimen
Canine blood samples including serum or plasma are required for this test. The sample may be stored at 2~8°C for one week. Do not freeze.
Kit components
Each Canine Rabies Virus Ab Test contains the following:
10 pouches, each containing1 test device
10 dilution buffers
1 Instruction for use
Storage and Stability
Store at 2-30ºC room temperature. Do not freeze.
The test kit will be stable until expiration date provides it has been stored properly.
Test procedure
Note: read all test instruction before running test.
1. Remove the test device from its sealed pouch by tearing along the notch.
2. Dispense 1 drop of serum or plasma into the sample well by disposable pipette.
3. Add 1 drop of dilution buffer.
4. Wait 5~10 minute.
5. Reading the test result.
Interpretation of the results
Negative
One red/purple band appears in the control line (C) with no apparent band in the test line (T). The sample should be considered negative for CRV antibody.
Positive
Two red/purple bands appear: one in the control line(C) and the other in test line (T). The sample should be considered positive for CRV antibody.
Invalid
If no red/purple band appears in the control line (C), or if a band appears in the line (T) but not in the control line (C), then the test is invalid. It is recommended to test the specimen using a new testing device.
Note: There is no meaning attributed to line color intensity or width.
Warning
1. For veterinary diagnostic research use only.
2. Ware protective gloves while handling specimens.
3. Decontaminate and dispose of all specimen, test device and potentially contaminated materials as if they were infectious waste, in a biohazard container.
4. Don’t use the test kit if the pouch is damaged or the seal is broken.
5. The test result should always be interpreted in the context of all available clinical information and history for dog being tested.
