Function:

Noni fruit contains a number of phytochemicals,including lignans,oligo-and polysaccharides,flavonoids,iridoids,fatty acids,scopoletin,catechin,beta-sitosterol,damnacanthal, and alkaloids. Although these substances have been studied for bioactivity,current research is insufficient to conclude anything about their effects on human health.These phytochemicals are not unique to M.citnifolia.as they exist in various plants.

Cancer influence

Noni fruit juice contains a polysaccharide-rich substance called noni-ppt with anti-tumor actvity. In a study performed at the University of Hawaii,administration of noni-ppt significantly enhanced the duration of surbibal of mice with lung tumor.The researchers say,'this s ests possible clinical applications of noni-ppt as asupplemental agent in cancer treatment.'No long term human trials are available to tell us whether it is useful as a cancer treatment or for prevention.
