B078 Kayak Model
L: 42 W: 5.5 H: 5 Inches
ABOUT:
Kayak was used by the native Ainu, Aleut and Eskimo hunters in sub-arctic regions of northeastern Asia, North America and Greenland. Have this wooden kayak model displayed beautifully in your own home or office.
Master craftsmen handcraft these highly detailed wood models from scratch using historical photographs, drawings and original plan. They are built to scale with high-grade wood such as: western red cedar, rosewood, and mahogany. They are 100% hand built individually using plank-on-frame construction method and are similar to the building of actual ships. Each model requires hundreds of hours to finish and must go through a demanding quality control process before leaving the workshop.
Made of top graded western red cedar from Canada, this kayak was built using "strip built" method, which is used to construct a full size kayak. This model has all the details that you can see on a real one. There is a seat inside the cockpit. The hatches come with cover and strap. There are also elastic bungee cords for gears. Comes with one set of kayak paddle and a wooden display stand.
HISTORY:
This small human-powered boat was used by the native of Ainu, Aleut and Eskimo hunters in sub-artic regions of northeastern Asia, North America, and Greenland. Kayaks were developed by these natives to hunt on inland lakes, rivers, and coastal waters of the Arctic Ocean, North Atlantic, Bering Sea and North Pacific Oceans. The first kayak ever known were created from stitched animal skins such as seal skin stretched over a wooden frame made from collected driftwood. The oldest kayaks ever found were at least 4,000 years old. Today, modern Kayaks come in a wide variety of designs and materials for specialized purposes.
