Gypsum block is a lightweight building material for building and erecting lightweight non-load bearing and fire-resistant interior walls, partition walls. Gypsum blocks are composed of gypsum plaster, water and in some cases additives like vegetable or wood fiber for greater strength. Partition walls made from gypsum blocks require no sub-structure for erection and gypsum adhesive is used as bonding agent, not regular mortar. Because of this fundamental difference, gypsum blocks shouldn't be confused with the thinner plasterboard (also known as wallboard or gypsum board) used for paneling stud walls.
A gypsum block is made of gypsum plaster and water. The manufacturing process is automated at production plants where raw gypsum (CaSO4•2H2O) is ground and dried, then heated to remove three-quarters of the bound water and thus transformed into calcium sulfate hemihydrate (CaSO4•½H2O), also known as gypsum plaster, stucco, calcined gypsum or
plaster of Paris. This process is also called calcination. The plaster is then mixed with water, stirred and poured into molds to form gypsum blocks with standard formats, either solid, or with round or square open cores to reduce weight and conserve materials.
Metering and weighing section—The building gypsum is conveyed to weighing silo by screw conveyor, when the materials in weighing silo are up to the set value, the screw conveyor will stop conveying.
Forming section—The metered building gypsum is evenly conveyed to a mixer by a flash screw conveyor and the water is conveyed to the mixer by pneumatic valves. The evenly mixed slurry by the mixer will be poured into forming machine, the hydraulic scraper will scrape out the upper surface tongue-and-groove, then hydraulic jacking out the formed gypsum blocks, then space clamp will move blocks to drying kiln car or to be air-cured
Drying and air-cure section—Formed gypsum blocks can be removed moisture by sun or artificial drying which is at buyer’s option.
Packing and storage section—Kiln-dried gypsum blocks can be manually or mechanically packed which is also at buyer’s option.
