Physical Properties: Easy to absorb moisture, squamous or prismatic crystals, heated to 310 C decomposition, sweet. Easily soluble in  water, soluble in methanol, ethanol, insoluble in ether.

Applications: Topical use in toothpaste to help with dry mouth and other personal care product as moisturizing agent;

                     Lower homocysteine levels in the urine and homocysteine levels in the blood;

                     Liver disease not due to alcohol use;

                     Prevent the development of noncancerous tumors in the colon and rectum (colorectal adenomas);

                     Weight loss;

                     Intermediates for API.
