What is Induction Lighting and How Does it Work?

Much like a fluorescent lamp, an induction lamp uses mercury to excite a gas in the lamp to create a visible white light with the bulb’s phosphor coating. Rather than electrodes inside the bulb like fluorescents, induction lamps are electrodeless. Instead, they use a high-frequency generator with a power coupler to produce a magnetic field radio frequency that excites the gas.

With no electrodes, the lamp lasts much longer. Induction lamps have a lifespan of up to 100,000 hours – up to 7-10 times longer than other alternatives.
