Casting steel ball can be divided into three categories which is high chromium，middle chromium and low chromium ball.
High chrome ball quality index
The chromium content of high chromium is greater than or equal to 10%. Carbon content between 1.80% and 3.20%. According to the national standard, high chrome ball hardness must be not less than 58hrc, the impact value should be greater than or equal to 3.0j/cm2. High chromium must use high temperature quenching and tempering. At present, there are two kinds method of high chromium quenching, including oil quenching and wind quenching. If the high chromium test is lower than 54HRC, it means that it is not quenched.
Middle chromium ball quality index
The regulation of chromium content of middle chromium ball is range from 3% to 7%, the carbon content between 1.80% and 3.20%. Its impact value should be not less than 2.0j/cm2. The middle chromium ball hardness should be greater than or equal to 47hrc by national standard requirements. In order to ensure the quality, the middle chromium ball should eliminate casting stress by high temperature tempering.If the surface of the steel ball is black and red, it is proved that the steel ball has been tempered at high temperature. If the surface is still with the metal color, we can determine that the steel ball without high temperature tempering treatment.
Low chromium ball quality index
In general, chromium content of low chromium ball is 0.5% to 2.5%, the carbon content from 1.80% to 3.20%. Therefore, according to the national standard, hardness of low chromium ball hardness should be not less than 45hrc, the impact value should be not less than 1.5j/cm2. Low chromium ball also requires high temperature tempering process to ensuring quality. This treatment can eliminate the casting stress. If the surface of the steel ball is deep red, it indicates that the high temperature tempering treatment. If the surface is still metallic, it indicates that the steel ball has not been tempered by high temperature.
Casting steel ball is usually used for large-scale mining of various cement plants, chemical plants, power plants, quartz sand factory, silica sand factory.
