 Application:

 1)   It has strong solubility and low toxic features. It is mainly used to produce cine film, polycarbonate, coating solvent, smoke propellant, polyurethane foams, parting agent and paint remover.

 2)  It is used for reaction intermediate in pharmaceutical industry, and used to produce ampicillin trihydrate, carbenicillin, cephalothin, etc

 Toxicity and protective measures:

 4)  Prolonged skin contact can result in methylene chloride dissolving some of the fatty tissues in skin, resulting in skin irritation or chemical burns.
