Overview:

Known as Ganoderma lucidum, this tree-based fungus has a long history of application in China and Japan as a kind of semideified healing herb. It is more popular than ginseng and rarer. So far, many legends have told the stories about those people with fatal diseases traveling a long journey to find it. At present, ganoderma lucidum can be cultivated artificially and is widely seen in those stores selling herbal products.

Extraction:

Ganoderma lucidum extract (also known as ganoderma lucidum refined powder) is actually the ganoderma lucidum extractum through timely harvest of mature fresh sporocarp, drying, hot water extraction, (or alcohol extraction), vacuum concentration, and spray drying. It is highly-concentrated ganoderma lucidum essence.

Composition:

The main ingredients of ganoderma lucidum extract are ganoderma lucidum triterpenoids and ganoderma lucidum polysaccharides.

Efficacy Overview:

1. Ganoderma lucidum extract is used by some surgeons in Japan to treat cancer patients. Its significant antitumor and immune stimulating effects have been identified in many cases. Polysaccharides isolated from ganoderma lucidum and other medicinal mushrooms have been patented in Japan and used as immunomodulator in cancer treatment. It is used in combination with chemotherapy or radiation therapy and has been shown to reduce the side effects, improve the effectiveness of treatment. It is also used to promote recovery from diseases.

2. Youbio Ganoderma lucidum extract can regulate many components of the immune system, some of which are considered to have obvious antitumor properties. In an experiment involving 2,000 cases in China, the application of concentrated ganoderma lucidum products has showed good response after treating chronic bronchitis in the elderly.

3. Ganoderma lucidum is used as a prescription drug in China for the treatment of chronic and acute hepatitis. A variety of polysaccharides in Ganoderma lucidum have excellent anti-hepatotoxicity properties. It has shown liver-protective effects on chemically induced injuries in a laboratory environment, including protection against the highly toxic carbon tetrachloride which is lethal substance.
