Indications
Oxytetracycline is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by, or associated with, oxytetracycline-sensitive organisms.
Oxytetracycline is for the treatment and control of pasteurellosis and pneumonia caused by oxytetracycline-sensitive organisms, and as an aid in the treatment of infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis due to sensitive strains of Moraxella bovis. May also be of value for foul-in-the-foot, acute severe mastitis, infectious ovine keratonconjunctivitis (pink-eye) and tick-borne fever. It may also be of value in the treatment of tick pyaemia in lambs, as an aid in the control of yersiniosis.
Administration and dosage
Deep Intramuscular Injection
10mg-20mg per kg body weight equivalent to 0.5-1 ml per10 kg body weight, repeated for 3 continuous days.
Special warnings
Not recommended for dogs, cats and horses.
Special precautions for use
Avoid injection volume greater than 10 ml per site in cattle and camels and 5 ml in sheep and goats.
Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the medicinal product to animals
Wash hands after use.
Keep out of the reach of children.
Special precautions for the disposal of unused veterinary medicinal product waste materials derived from the use of such products
Do not contaminate ponds, waterways or ditches with the product or used container. Any unused veterinary medicinal product or waste materials derived from such veterinary medicinal products should be disposed of in accordance with local requirements.
Withdrawal period
Meat:
Cattle, camels, sheep and goats: 28 days.
Milk:
Cattle and camels, sheep and goats: 7 days.
Shelf life
24 months.
Shelf life after opening: 15 days.
Storage
Store in a cool and dry place under 30oC, protected from light.
Seal placed in the refrigerator after opening.
