A2 practical characteristics of steel:
(1) good machinability and grindability. The machinability and grindability are better than SKD11, so the service life of the machining tool is longer and the machining man-hours are less.
(2) Advantages in heat treatment The quenching and hardening energy is higher than SKD11, so it can improve the defect of insufficient hardness in vacuum heat treatment.
(3) Advantages of on-line cutting. By tempering at high temperature, the residual stress can be reduced and the residual Vostian iron can be eliminated, which can prevent the troubles of cracking and deformation caused by wire cutting.
(4) Advantages in the surface hardening treatment The surface hardness after the surface hardening treatment is higher than that of SKD11, so that the mold performance can be improved.
(5) Advantages in the repair welding operation Because the preheating and post-heating temperatures are lower than SKD11, the repair welding operation is simpler. Features: General cold working die steel with high hardness and toughness.
Usa A2 steel uses:
● Precision stamping die.
● Precision blanking dies for wire cutting and stamping dies for various purposes.
● Tools for plastic deformation of difficult-to-machine materials.
● dies for cold forging, deep drawing and thread rolling.
● High-speed blanking punch and stainless steel plate punch.
● Drawing dies, crimping dies, embossing dies and abrasive plastic forming dies.

A2 steel/factory status: HB230-250.
A2 is an American high toughness wear-resistant tool steel, which belongs to wind-hardened section steel. The mass fraction of carbon in the steel is about 1%, the hardness after heat treatment can reach 57~62HRC, and the mass fraction of chromium is about 5%. After grinding, the surface of the steel has dark luster, excellent corrosion resistance and strong ductility, and the wear resistance of the die edge is better. The steel has good hardenability, uniform carbide distribution, certain impact cavity and good wear resistance. It has good air quenching performance, small dimensional deformation after air quenching, uniform and fine carbides and good wear resistance.
Classification of use:
(1) Structural steel for construction and engineering is referred to as construction steel for short, which refers to steel used for making metal structural parts in buildings, bridges, ships, boilers or other projects. Such as carbon structural steel, low alloy steel, reinforced steel, etc.
(2) Structural steel for machinery manufacturing refers to steel used for manufacturing structural parts on machinery and equipment. These steels are basically high-quality steels or high-quality steels, mainly including high-quality carbon structural steels, alloy structural steels, free-cutting structural steels, spring steels and rolling bearing steels.
Generally used for manufacturing various tools, such as carbon tool steel, alloy tool steel, high-speed tool steel, etc. According to the purpose, it can be divided into cutting tool steel, die steel and measuring tool steel.
Steel with special properties, such as stainless acid-resistant steel, heat-resistant steel without peeling, high-resistance alloy, wear-resistant steel, magnetic steel, etc.
This refers to the steel for professional use in various industrial departments, such as automobile steel, agricultural machinery steel, aviation steel, chemical machinery steel, boiler steel, electrical steel, covered electrode steel, etc.
A2 is an improved cold work die steel based on SKD11(Cr12Mo1V1). Under conventional heat treatment conditions, the retained austenite is almost completely decomposed, so cryogenic treatment can be omitted generally, and high toughness can still be maintained under strong hardness.
