Inconel718 is a Fe-Ni-Cr-based precipitation hardening deformation superalloy with long-term service temperature range of -253~650℃ and short-term service temperature of 800℃. Under 650℃, it has high strength, good toughness and corrosion resistance in high and low temperature environment. Inconel718 is suitable for making ring parts, blades, fasteners and structural parts in aviation, aerospace and petrochemical industry, mainly rods, plates, tubes, belts, wires and so on.

Inconel718 physical properties: density ρ=8.24g/cm3, melting temperature range 1260 ~ 1320℃, processing and heat treatment: in the field of mechanical processing is difficult to process materials.
Preheating: the surface of the workpiece must be cleaned before and during heating to keep the surface clean. The alloy will become brittle if the heating environment contains sulfur, phosphorus, lead, or other metals with low melting points. Impurities come from labeled paint, chalk, lubricating oil, water, fuel, etc. The sulfur content of fuel should be low, for example, the impurity content of liquefied gas and natural gas should be less than 0.1%, the sulfur content of city gas should be less than 0.25g/m3, and the sulfur content of LPG should be less than 0.5%.
The heated electric furnace must have a more accurate temperature control ability, and the furnace gas must be neutral or weakly alkaline, and the composition of the furnace gas should be avoided from fluctuations in oxidation and reduction.
Inconel718 hot and cold processing: the alloy suitable hot processing temperature is 1120-900℃, cooling can be water quenching or other rapid cooling methods, after hot processing should be timely annealing to ensure the best performance. During hot processing, the material should be heated to the upper limit of the processing temperature. In order to ensure the plasticity of the processing, the final processing temperature should not be lower than 960℃ when the deformation amount reaches 20%. Cold working should be carried out after solution treatment, the work hardening rate is higher than austenitic stainless steel, so the processing equipment should be adjusted accordingly, and there should be an intermediate annealing process in the cold working process.
Cold and hot treatment: different solution treatment and aging treatment will get different material properties. Due to the low diffusion rate of γ "phase, the alloy can obtain good mechanical properties by aging for a long time.
Cold grinding: Oxides near the weld of the workpiece are more difficult to remove than those of stainless steel and need to be polished with a fine sand belt. The oxides are also removed with sandpaper or pre-treated with salt bath before pickling in a mixture of nitric and hydrofluoric acid.
Inconel718 machined: machined after solution treatment, taking into account the work hardening of the material, which, unlike austenitic stainless steel, is suitable for low surface cutting speeds.
Inconel718 weldability: Precipitation hardening Inconel718 alloy is very suitable for welding, no post-weld cracking tendency. Weldability, workability and high strength are the major advantages of this material.
Inconel718 is suitable for arc welding, plasma welding, etc. Before welding, the surface of the material should be clean, no oil, no chalk marks, etc., and the bright metal should be polished within 25mm around the weld.
Application and characteristics: Inconel718 alloy has been used in the production of aviation, aerospace and petrochemical ring parts, blades, fasteners and structural parts, the production of petrochemical applications of a variety of parts, can be mass production and good performance. Helium cooling process can be used to effectively reduce niobium segregation during vacuum consumable remelting, jet forming process can be used to produce ring parts, which can reduce the cost and cycle, and superplastic forming can be used to expand the production range.
