Applications
Silane OSi HIOSil APMO is a silane coupling agent that contains acryloxy grroups as the organic functional group. Compared to the methacryloxy group-based Silane MEMO, Silane OSi HIOSil APMO has high radical reactivity and is more effective in UV and EB curing systems. Thanks to a more efficient reaction with the substrate, Silane OSi HIOSil APMO promotes better adhesion and provides an improved reinforcing effect. It can also be used for modification of acrylic resins through copolymerization.

Radical reactivity To compare the reactivity of vinyl, acryloxy and methacryloxy groups, silicones containing these different functional groups were irradiated with an electron beam (EB) and their curing properties were compared. The silicone with acryloxy groups cured with a smaller EB dose than did those with methacryloxy or vinyl groups, which is indicative of its higher radical reactivity.

Reinforcing effect Using unsaturated polyester and glass fiber treated with Silane OSi HIOSil APMO, a laminated was prepared and tested in a comparison of flexural strength. Compared to MEMO, Silane OSi HIOSil APMO provided at least a 10% greater strength improvement. (Glass content of laminates: 63-65%)
