70% Porosity Titanium Fiber Paper Felt for GDL
70% Porosity Titanium Fiber Paper Felt for GDL is a highly porous material that is sintered from small-diameter titanium fibers. It has excellent electrical conductivity and is commonly used as a flow field or diffuser material in standard PEM electrolyzers, particularly on the oxygen (anode) side. Unlike carbon-based gas diffusion layers, which cannot be used at the anode due to oxidation during the reaction, titanium fiber felt is an ideal candidate for diffusion due to its resistance to corrosion. Additionally, it provides electrical contact between the anode catalyst layer and bipolar plate or current collector at the anode side.
TOPTITECH’s 70% Porosity Titanium Fiber Paper Felt for GDL is produced through a process of compressing and flattening small-diameter titanium fibers, followed by annealing to create a smooth, flat surface suitable for use in electrolyzers. While most industrial applications operate their PEM electrolyzers in the anode-fed mode, this product is also useful as a diffusion medium for researchers conducting cathode-fed PEM electrolyzer research. Moreover, titanium fiber felt is versatile and can be used as a diffusion medium in unitized fuel cells, electrolyzers, regenerative electrochemical devices, and electrochemical oxygen concentrators and inerters, as well as in certain classes of batteries like redox flow batteries, regardless of the nature of the reactants.

Performance
1. Strength: Titanium felt is a strong material, with a tensile strength of around 1000 MPa (megapascals). This is roughly equivalent to the strength of some high-strength steels, but titanium is much lighter, which makes it an attractive material for applications where weight is a concern.
2. Corrosion resistance: One of the key properties of titanium is its excellent corrosion resistance. This is due to the formation of a thin oxide layer on the surface of the metal, which protects it from further corrosion. Titanium felt is resistant to a wide range of corrosive environments, including seawater, acids, and alkalis.
3. Electrical conductivity: Like its thermal conductivity, the electrical conductivity of titanium is relatively low compared to other metals. However, titanium felt still has good electrical conductivity, which makes it useful for electrochemical applications, such as batteries and fuel cells.
4. Thermal conductivity: Titanium has a relatively low thermal conductivity compared to other metals, such as copper or aluminum. However, titanium felt still has good thermal conductivity, which makes it useful for applications where heat transfer is important.
5. Durability: Titanium felt is a durable material that can withstand harsh environments and extreme temperatures. It is also resistant to fatigue and wear, which makes it suitable for use in components that are subjected to repeated loading or stress.
