The ram is locked using the hydraulic control wedge surface technique. There is no need for a separate external oil circuit because the automatic locking mechanism's oil circuits are entirely concealed within the main body. The BOP ram's locking and closing mechanisms share an oil circuit, as does the ram's unlocking and opening mechanism. This allows for the simultaneous completion of both actions, which enhances operational convenience. Highly automatic and dependable is the hydraulic locking BOP.
