A U shape heat pipe typically consists of a sealed copper pipe bent into a “U” configuration. It’s partially filled with a working fluid (like refrigerant or water) and utilizes phase change (evaporation and condensation) to transfer heat from one side to the other with minimal energy input.

Dehumidification Function

The U-shaped dehumidification heat pipe is usually installed around a cooling coil (like in an air handling unit):

• The first section (upstream side) pre-cools the incoming humid air before it reaches the cooling coil. This helps the cooling coil remove more moisture from the air.

• The second section (downstream side) reheats the air slightly after it passes the coil, increasing the supply air temperature without extra energy input.

This process helps in achieving deeper dehumidification while avoiding overly cold air being supplied to the room.
