Brown Fused Alumina (BFA) is produced in an electric arc furnace at temperatures in excess of 2000°C. BFA is the result of fusing bauxite to reduce the silica levels and forming a material with a higher alumina content.
BFA is used in the production of bonded abrasives (grinding wheels), coated abrasives (sandpaper and cloth), blasting grain, polishing compounds, refractories, ceramics, and other applications.
