Warp often uses 18-48tex (32-12 S) single yarn or 10tex×2-28tex×2 (60/2-21/2 S) compound yarn; weft often uses 14.5-36tex (40-16 S) single yarn. Weave adopts double weft weave that two groups of weft interweave with one group of warp. Ground weaves have plain, twill and weft rib, etc. Ground weft and warp interweave to compose ground fabric. Weft and warp interweave to form a series of pile loop, which is cut off through velvet cutting. After velvet brushing, the surface of fabrics forms towering strips of corduroy. Weave adopts double weft weave that two groups of weft interweave with one group of warp. Corduroy belongs to high weft density fabric. Warp tightness is 35%-65% and weft tightness is 110%-200%. Arrangement proportion of ground weft and weft is 1:2 and 1:3.

Corduroy has many types. According to differences of thickness, it is divided into ultra-fine corduroy (over 19 pieces/2.54cm), pinwale corduroy (15-19pieces/2.54cm), mid-wale corduroy (9-14 pieces/2.54cm), spacious wale corduroy(6-8 pieces/ 2.54cm), wide-wale corduroy (less than 6 pieces/2.54cm) and inter-wale corduroy ( corduroy with fineness equal to thickness), etc. Spacious wale corduroy generally adopts compound yarn in warp direction and uses single yarn in weft direction; mid-wale corduroy uses single yarn both in warp and weft directions; pinwale corduroy can use either single yarn or compound yarn.

According to differences of yarn used and structure, corduroy is divided into full-yarn corduroy, half-thread corduroy, full-thread corduroy, elastic corduroy, warp elastic corduroy, weft elastic corduroy, Terylene cotton corduroy, Terylene corduroy, cotton corduroy, pure cotton corduroy, cotton/ linen corduroy, viscose cotton corduroy, elastic-weft velveteen-like fabric; according to differences of processing technology, it is divided into dyeing corduroy, printing corduroy, yarn dyed corduroy, printing pulling corduroy, frosting corduroy, pigment dyeing corduroy, embossed corduroy, coating bi-color corduroy, Terylene cotton bi-color corduroy and figured corduroy(part of figured corduroy fluffs and forms all kinds of pattern). When washing, it is unsuitable to forcibly scrub corduroy and brush with scrubbing brush. It is suitable to brush lightly with soft hair brush in the fuzz direction. It is unsuitable to iron and press heavily when storing, which is to keep fuzz full and towering.
