在过去的十几年当中,与高能研磨密切相关的机械合金化技术以其新颖的粉末合成方式展示出强大的生命力。以这种方式,许多由常规途径无法达到的,并且远远偏离热力学平衡状态的特殊复合材料应运而生,如非晶态或纳米材料。通过这种粉末生产工艺还可使在传统的熔炼技术条件下互不相溶的合金元素以机械合金化的形式合成出来。
    机械合金化可通过固态反应引导材料晶体结构的转变。在研磨过程中吉布斯自由能强烈升高,促进晶体材料从亚稳态到稳定状态的演变,由此加速了固态反应,相与相之间达到冶金结合,晶粒尺寸一般为纳米级。粉末颗粒之间的相互反应可描述为塑性变形,撕裂及冷焊三个主要过程的综合效应。两种或多种不同类的材料在上述过程的反复作用下,被均匀弥散的研磨在一起。由此而形成的机械合金材料常常显示出超常的物理及机械特性,如超韧性,超强度或用于制造固体润滑材料。
    高能卧式转子研磨机(Simoloyer)是一种新型的集高能研磨,机械合金化及反应研磨技术于一体的现代化研磨设备。该设备带有一个研磨仓,一水平式转子及适量研磨球,可适用于干法及湿法研磨。研磨仓的容量从0.5-900升不等。此设备的主要特征是备有空气密封系统,可调式预密封元件,可抽真空仓及旋转密封。由于整机为水平放置,研磨球因受重力影响而造成的非均匀分布状态得以避免,从而使得研磨球产生的碰撞动能均匀分布在每个角落。加上转子的高强度设计,可使转子的转速比传统球磨机高出2-3倍,由此产生了高能效应。
