ISCAR presents FEEDTURN, a new tangential system for
Fast Metal Removal (F.M.R.) in turning applications. Industry is always seeking new solutions that provide high material removal rates, especially in rough turning operations. HSM – High Speed Machining – has been available for finishing operations.
Now F.M.R. is available for roughing at high feeds and large depths of cut, enabling removal of large volumes of material in a short period of time. The FEEDTURN tool uses a tangential toolholder (SLLNR) and a unique insert designated LNMX 1608R-HF. The tangential clamping of the insert ensures a high degree of stability, even when operating at high feeds that produce high mechanical loads.
To minimize the cutting forces and to improve chip flow, the insert is designed with a helical sloped cutting edge and a positive radial rake.
The upper rake face of the insert is mounted at the same level as the holder body, thereby enabling the chips to flow without making contact with any clamping surface. The insert’s unique chipformer on the rake face causes chip curling and breaking in roughing conditions.
