Traffic Message Channel (TMC) is a technology for delivering traffic and travel information to drivers. Services both public and commercial are now operational in many countries worldwide.

TMC is typically digitally coded using the FM-RDS (Radio Data System) on conventional FM radio broadcasts. It can also be transmitted on DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) or satellite radio.

TMC allows silent delivery of high quality accurate, timely and relevant traffic and variety information, in the language chosen by the user and without interrupting normal services. A navigation device with TMC data can calculate an alternative route to help drivers avoid traffic incident.

TMC module can receive and decode the TMC information efficiently and output the data with LOCOSYS Advance TMC Protocol which is NEMA-like ASCII message compatible.

TMC Receivers

1.          TMC2000 series products integrate FM TMC receiver, antenna and cigarette lighter adaptor (CLA). Combined it with compatible PND (Personal Navigation Device) can alert the driver of a problem, such as traffic tie-ups, on the planned route and calculate an alternative route to avoid the incident. TMC2000 series realize the dynamic route guidance.

2.           LS9 has the same function as TMC2000 series without CLA. It’s a power bridge between CLA and PND.

3.           TMC1000 products are complete TMC receivers that use SiLabs chip solution. TMC1000 can receive and decode the TMC information efficiently and output data with LOCOSYS Advance TMC protocol which is NMEA compatible. Combined TMC1000 with any navigation system can alert the driver of a problem on the planned route and calculate and alternative route avoid the incident. This makes the dynamic route guidance reality.
