Operating principle

A spiral trough consists of helical conduit of semicircular cross-sections and ports which are located at the lowest points in the cross-sections to remove the specific-gravity particles. Pulp is introduced at the top of the spiral trough when wash water is being added to adjust the concentration of pulp. As the pulp flows downward, the sand and ore of different density, size and shape will separate under the influence of gravity and centrifugal force.
