Product Description

RO 1500 GPD: Desalination unit with medium capacity
- delivers 5.500 liters pure potable water per day:

The difference between the different desalination units - are the number of TFC-menbranes.

In many areas there is a need for fresh water - free of salt. Both rain water, brackish water as well as sea water allow for Desalination - the removal of salts. The Ord.RO 1500 is the smallest of these units - which range up to Ord.RO-6000. The Desalination units use Reverse osmosis as a powerful tool in the removal of salt and other dissolved elements and substances. Reverse osmosis technology was developed by the American Navy in order to use water from the sea.

Only recently has the technological delelopment made the price of a TFC 4040 Membrane so that they are accessable to the marketplace.

Guide to the "Home RO-plant":
... where the RO stands for Reverse Osmosis. " Home RO-plant comes in two varieties: "Ordinary RO plant" and "SWRO plant.
First, Ord.RO, is designed for the removal of the salts and unwanted substances from freshwater. SWRO plants remove salt from sea and brackish water, and then to supply water of drinking quality.

Reverse osmosis is a relatively new technology that only now beginning to become economically available. Our "Hjemmets Osmosis Plant" is one of the best one can come by when it comes to cleaning water. Now they are available for cleaning your water - into your home.

Below we present the workings of a Reverse osmosis filtration system:

Home RO systems are designed for domestic use, but can also find a use in both industrial and commercial applications.
The units have a stainless steel frame and a varying number of osmosis and sediment cartridges.

These Reverse Osmosis units can not only purify fresh water but can also remove salt from sea and brackish water. These RO-cartridges are particularly powerful - that they have smaller pores and must work under a higher pressure.

They are also sea water resistant.

Categories 1500 - 3000 - 4500 and 6000 refers to the capacity in U.S. Gallons. They provide an approx. 5000 to 20,000 liters - clean, pure drinking water / day.

Reverse osmosis: is a process where water is pressured from high concentrations of dissolved salts to that of a lower concentration, the opposite of ordinary osmosis - dilution.
With reverse osmosis, one uses pressure to force water molecules through a membrane leaving the salt molecules behind. Brine is a byproduct. and is flushed out of the system.

You are left with pure, clean potable water.

The key lies in a semi-permeable membrane with very small pores - approx. 0.2 microns, where only water molecules are small enough to pass.
Larger molecules such as salt, heavy metals, bacteria, etc. withheld.

Two layers, one of Polysulfone and one of a Polyester, are there to support of the top layer of Polyamide - but also helps to enhance filtering.

Between the layers will be a separate insulator - which is pearmeable and keeps the lalyers apart, som that it forms a channel allowing the saline water to gather and flow out of the system.

The molecules which cannot be pressed through the filter - will remain on one side, as brine, and be flushed down the drain.
With the different layers rolled into a cylinder, one gets a a very large surface for the water to interact with. This allows the dissolved salts to flow across the different lammells and out - as a brine concentrate.

Approx. 70 to 90% of the water is recycled - and 10-30% is carried away as brine.

The water molecules are channeled in towards the centre of the filter and flow out - as pure potable water.

H2S can be a problem. It is a dissolved gas that smells like rotten eggs. Here the molecules are so small that they can not be separated from the H2O water molecule.

To remove H2S from water, try airation. A simple compressor will do.
Here we see the different layers, as lamella. They render support to the different layers, on which the other layers rest. At the top we saw a more compact micro-porous layers and finally the mikrobarrar which separates the various salts from water molecules.
The layers are rolled in a spiral - which gives the water a relatively long way to run / flow, while it looses its dissolved salts.

Between each set of filaments, there is filament which moves the purified water into the the center of the cartridge - and out.

Pre-filtration: Sediment or sludge which enter the osmosis filter will clog pores and render damage the filter.

Ordinary RO-filters v/s SWRO-filters: For the removal of salts from salt- or brackish water, as compared to fresh (sweet) water, the two types of filters are constructed differertly.

They have Heavy duty Osmosis Cartridges and heavy duty pumps - to provide a higher pressure. This proppts the SWRO-cartridge, - which is used for the desalination of seawater, becomong more expensive.
