The test is based on a chemical reaction between the chemical reagent on each test pad and the urine specimen, which effects a colour change in the test pad. Each of the plastic strips contains six chemically treated reagent pads. One minute after the activation of the reagent pads by the urine specimen, the colours that appear on the pads can be compared with the printed colour chart on the canister.
