A fireplace is a place where fire can be made.  It can basically be mounted on the wall.  Most fireplaces are located at the living rooms of the houses. 

The purpose is for the members of the family to have a place where they can cuddle together during the cold and lonely hours of winter. 

The traditional fireplace is fueled by wood, and other combustible materials.  However, the scarcity of wood and the dangers of fire have brought about the evolution of the fireplace design. 

One of the modern fireplaces is the electric fireplace.

Electric fireplaces are those that are fueled by electricity.  These fireplaces still offer the same warmth and magic that traditional fireplaces offer, in the absence of fire.  It is basically an appliance that depicts the ambiance of a fireplace by simulating the presence of fire.  Electric fireplaces can provide the illusion of fire as traditional fireplaces, and can also provide heat generated by electricity.  The different fireplace accessories can still be used in this type of fireplace.  Although there is no actual fire, the aura that it exudes is still that of a real fireplace.
