Pillow blocks, the most commonly used type of mounted units, are designed to provide shaft support where the mounting surface is parallel to the shaft axis. The bolt holes are usually slotted for adjustment during mounting. Pillow blocks are supplied in a variety of configurations. Pressed steel pillow block bearings are also available for light-duty applications.

   Round rail pillow block bearings offer advantages over square rail guides such as: self-alignment and greater tolerance of reduced parallelism. Pillow block bearings can be installed with either continuous or end supports.  They handle moment loads well; offer low drag and excellent smoothness.  Pillow block bearings are, without doubt, easier and less expensive to install than square rail bearings without compromise to important performance requirements.
