SY 34 Ferrous-Enriched Yeast is also known as the yeast ferrous or ferrous yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). It is derived from culture of specified strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae grown in the presence of ferrous sulphate. Iron in iron-enriched yeast is naturally integrated by the growing yeast into its own structure and occurs therefore, the metabolic fate and the biological distribution of which are similar to those of other sources of iron in the diet.
