Golden silk, just as its name described, because this kind of Chinese date when split semi dried, there are thin wires connecting the two halves, like silk made of gold, sparks under sunlight. This is where its name derives from.

The jujube usually is overy or goose egg shaped, 5-7 gram each, with thin peel, plumpy flesh, delicate flavor. When fresh, it is cardinal red and very crisp, sweet with slight acidity. After dried, the peel turns scarlet and flesh becomes tough when you take a bite, shallow and thin wrinkles will also appear at the surface, at this state jujube is much more durable for storage and transportation than fresh status.
