What are the  CROWN & BRIDGE?

Crown

When a tooth is weakened due to trauma, large fillings or decay, a crown (see figure 1) may be required to restore it to optimal health. A crown – also commonly called as a cap – is a tooth-colored, made of porcelain covering that is permanently placed over an existing tooth. It can be used to add strength, correct the bite or improve the overall appearance of a tooth.

Bridge

A fixed bridge is an option to replace one or more missing teeth (as seen in figure 2). It is permanently cemented to the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth or teeth. The benefits of a fixed bridge include restoring the natural bite, preventing opposing and adjacent teeth from moving into the space, improving chewing function, and enhanced appearance. Removable denture or an implant is an alternative to a fixed bridge.
