In Chinese culture, dragon is called "Loong", a symbol of power, strength, and good luck.

Loong is legendary creature in Chinese mythology and folklore. Loong has many animal-like forms such as turtle, fish, and imaginary creatures, but they are most commonly depicted as snake-like with claws. Lonng traditionally symbolized potent and auspicious powers ,particularly control over water, rainfall, hurricane, and floods. Emperor of China usually used Loong as emblem of his imperial power and strength.

In Chinese daily life, excellent and outstanding people are compared to a Loong. A number of Chinese proverbs and idioms features references to a Loong, for example, "Hoping one's son become a Loong".
