Kelly Bar is a component of Rotary Drilling Rig when the rig is being used in Kelly drilling configuration. Kelly bars main purpose is to transfer the torque of the rotary drive and crowd pressure of the crowd system to the drilling tool. DRILLSTAR is manufacturing Kelly bars in various configurations depending upon machine model, rotating torque and customer demand.  Normally Kelly bars made of 2 ~5 tubular sections with drive keys and lock recesses on each section.

There are mainly two types of Kelly Bars

1   - Interlocking Kelly Bars

2   - Friction Kelly Bars

KELLY BARS IDENTIFICATION

Identification number for Kelly bars provides information about Kelly type,

Nominal Torque, Outer pipe diameter, No. of Kelly bars sections and

Nominal Drilling Depth. In ID No. ‘D’ Stands for DRILLSTAR,

‘I’ stands for Interlocking, ‘F’ Stands for Friction and

‘K’ Stands for Kelly Bar.

Interlocking Kelly Bar

Interlocking Kelly bars are used with piling rigs for drilling in dense sand and gravel and weak to strong rock. The Interlocking Kelly bars manufactured by DRILLSTAR can be fully locked by mechanical locking system on each section. Kelly bars can be equipped with specially designed springs or pressure plates for shock absorbing purpose.
