Lycium Barbarum Polysaccharide is a kind of Proteoglycan composed from 6 kinds of Monosaccharide. They are Arabinose, Glucose, Galactose, Mannose, Rhamnose and Xylose.

Lycium is a major Chinese tonic herb, first mentioned in the Divine Husbandman's Classic (Shen'nong Bencaojing), written in the 1st century AD.
