Soybean meal also known as Soyabean Oil Cake is a solid residue by-product, flour, created after grinding the soybean to extract soybean oil. It is widely used as a filler and source of protein in animal diets, including pig, chicken, cattle, horse, sheep, and fish feed.
Soybean meal is preferably made from high quality, sound, clean, dehulled yellow beans, since beans with a dark colored seed coat, or even beans with a dark hilum will inadvertently leave undesirable dark specks in the flour. All commercial soybeans in the United States are yellow or yellow brown.
Soyabean Meal holds a very important position in the Indian agriculture and economy. It stands at the fifth position in the list of the leading soybean producing countries with a production figure of around 7 million tons. Madhya Pradesh has the lead among the soybean producing states in India. Regarding consumption of soybean in India, it holds the sixth position in the leading consuming countries. Bumper production of soybean and high overseas demand of soymeal, have resulted in India's oilmeal exports rising at times by more than 116%.
