It is a white solid, could be in either powdered or crystals forms. It is odorless and a strong astringent. It is partially soluble in hot water,very slightly soluble in cold water.
In the field of light and chemical industries: Ammonium Aluminum Sulphate is useful in a number of niche applications, by virtue of being inexpensive and nontoxic. 
It is used in water purification, leather tanning, fireproofing of textiles, and in the manufacture of vegetable glues and porcelain. It is also a common ingredient in products as varied as deodorants and animal repellent spray In the foodstuff industry, Ammonium Alum is used to purify drinking water.
