High carbon chromium bearing steel grades are indicated by adding the symbol "G" to the top of the grades without indicating the carbon content.The chromium content is expressed in thousandths of a percent, and the other alloying elements are expressed in the same way as the alloying content of alloy structural steels.For example, bearing steel with an average chromium content of 1.5% is labeled "GCr15".

 

Bearing steel has high hardness, tensile strength, contact fatigue strength and wear resistance, and considerable toughness, to meet the requirements of corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance under certain conditions.

High carbon chromium bearing steel has high carbon content (0.95-1.05%), high and even hardness can be obtained after quenching, long fatigue life, the disadvantage is that the impact toughness of large load is slightly poor.The high carbon chromium bearing steel is mainly used as the ring and roller of the rolling bearing under general service conditions.Carburized bearing steel has a low carbon content (not more than 0.23%). After carburizing, the surface hardness is improved, while the core still has good toughness and can bear a large impact load.It is mainly used for making bearing with large impact load in large machinery.
