Stainless steel expanded metal sheets are made of solid sheets or panels. Then, a machine penetrates and stretches the sheet into an open diamond pattern. There are two common types of expanded metal panels: raised and flat. The raised punched metal sheet has wavy ridges, while the flat sheet is truly flat.

Expanded metal panels are often used to protect access areas or objects or as barriers, but still allow the free passage of liquids and gases.
