Breif Introduction

Sodium formate (141-53-7) is a white powder. Melting point is 253 ℃. The relative density is 1.919. Soluble in water and glycerin, slightly soluble in ethanol. Insoluble in ether. Sodium formate is decomposed at high temperature to sodium oxalate and hydrogen, and finally to sodium carbonate. It has a slight formic smell and is absorbent.

(1)Used as Leather tanning agent, catalyzer, stabilizer in leather industry, serves as camouflage salt in the chrome tanning method.

(2)Used as anti-frosting agent in concrete and used in snow-melting

(3)Used in completion fluid in oil field, drilling fluids

(4)Used in the printing and dyeing of textiles as a reducing agent

(5)Used as the raw material in the manufacturers of sodium hydrosulphite, formic acid and oxalic acid
