How To Maintain Heavy Duty Car Battery?

1. Check battery voltage once a month

If a lead-acid battery is allowed to discharge partially or completely, it will greatly shorten its service life. Check the voltage with a voltmeter once a month for a healthier battery. A fully charged lead-acid battery should have a voltage of approximately 12.7 volts or higher. If the voltage is below 12.5 volts, it is best to charge the battery as soon as possible. Also, keep in mind that a lead-acid car battery is considered half charged at 12.4 volts and completely or completely dead at 12.0 volts. Driving the vehicle frequently and for long periods will help maintain your battery. If you don't use your vehicle very often, consider purchasing a battery charger to help maintain the correct voltage.

2. Fix the EXOR battery firmly and check it once a month

Vibration can shorten the life of a heavy duty car battery, so it is important to use an approved battery clip to ensure it is properly fastened. If not firmly fixed, excessive vibration can damage the internal components of the battery causing a short circuit and shortening battery life. Please connect the wire firmly to the terminal without crimping or squeezing. But don't make the mistake of overtightening the battery clamp nut to your strength limit as this can damage the battery. Instead, simply tighten the nut until resistance is felt, then continue to rotate half a turn.

3. Keep the battery clean and check the terminal corrosion once a month

Keep the top of the heavy duty auto battery clean, dry, and free of dust and dirt. Dirty batteries will discharge on the dirt at the top of the case, causing a slight short circuit that will eventually kill the battery. Battery terminals can also corrode over time, so keeping them clean and free of buildup is a smart way to extend battery life. Scrub the terminals with an old toothbrush dipped in baking soda and water. Then, rinse the mixture with a cold water spray bottle and dry thoroughly.

What To Consider When Buying The Best Heavy Duty Car Batteries

Choose The Right Size Battery

Batteries come in all shapes and sizes. If you buy a battery that is too small, it may move around in the battery tray, and the battery lock will no doubt come loose. If you purchase a battery that is too large, it may be placed on the edge of the tray, may leave a hole in the battery, and may not install. If the battery is too high, it can come into contact with the hood or other metal sheets, and cause friction to cause damage.

Select The Appropriate Cca Value

Cold start Current (CCA) - When you go out the door, the battery may produce an event you don't expect on a cold morning. Cold start is one of the most difficult battery challenges. If the replacement battery you buy is rated lower than the required grade for your truck, you could end up stranded on the road.

Choose The Right Volume

To ensure your truck is running well, choose heavy duty diesel car batteries with a good reserve capacity ranging from 80 to 150 minutes --Start-Stop AGM battery are better because they can start and discharge deeply.

How To Install Heavy Duty Car Battery?

Place the new battery in the battery fixing tray and secure the battery with the battery fixing clip. Spray both ends with a preservative solution. Connect and secure the battery positive cable (red). Connect and secure the negative battery cable (black).
