Biological activity of ambroxol hydrochloride
Ambroxol hydrochloride (NA-872 hydrochloride) is an active metabolite of prodrug bromohexine, which has a strong expectorant effect. Ambroxol hydrochloride is a glucocerebrosidase (GCase) chaperone to increase glucocerebrosidase activity. Ambroxol hydrochloride can induce pulmonary autophagy and has the potential to be used in the study of Parkinson's disease and neuropathic Gaucher disease.
