Product properties & Features

procaine, whose hydrochloride is called novocain. With its hydrochloride, white crystal or crystalline powder, odorless, slightly bitter taste, followed by paralysis, easily soluble in water. The duration of local anesthesia of procaine is about 1 hour, and the effect can be maintained for 1 ~ 2 hours if a trace amount of epinephrine is added into the liquid. It is not suitable for topical anesthesia because of its weak penetration of skin and mucous membranes. After absorption, the product is hydrolyzed to p-aminobenzoic acid and diethylaminoethanol by plasma pseudocholinesterase. The former can compete against the antibacterial Chemicalbook effect of sulfanilamide drugs and weaken the effect of sulfanilamide drugs. The latter can enhance the effect of digitalis. Patients who have taken sufficient digitalis should use this drug with caution. If procaine is combined with succinylcholine, the two drugs are hydrolyzed by plasma pseudocholinesterase. In the case of intravenous infusion of a large amount of procaine, it is possible to compete with the hydrolytic enzyme and reduce the hydrolytic inactivation of succinylcholine, significantly strengthen and prolong its muscle relaxation effect, resulting in respiratory paralysis. Procaine if a large amount of absorption, the central nervous system produces excitatory effects, and then into inhibition, the performance of unease, convulsion, coma, respiratory paralysis, a few patients have allergic reactions.

Application

It is suitable for infiltration anesthesia, conduction anesthesia, subarachnoid anesthesia, epidural anesthesia, and also used for local closure of peripheral nerve lesions.
