Yttria-stabilized zirconia, YSZ, is a ceramic material that changes the phase transformation temperature range of zirconium dioxide by adding yttria, producing cubic and tetragonal crystals that are stable at room temperature.

Yttrium stabilized zirconia (YSZ) has high hardness and low chemical activity. It is used as a raw material for:
a.Artificial crown
b. Refractory materials (for example: jet engines, automotive ceramic brake pads)
c. Thermal barrier layer of gas turbine
d. Electronic ceramics (for example: oxygen sensors for detecting oxygen content in automobile exhaust gases, pH meter probes for high-temperature and high-pressure aqueous solutions, fuel cells)
e.Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC)
