High Strength Low Alloy Steel

High strength low alloy steel is a kind of engineering structure steel, its main feature is to add a small amount of alloying elements on the basis of low carbon steel, such as Mn, Si and trace amounts of Nb, V, Ti, Al, etc., so that its rolled or normal yield strength of more than 275 MPa. The total amount of alloying elements in this steel does not exceed 3%, and its high strength characteristics are relative to carbon engineering structural steel.

Its rolling process includes pre-rolling, rough rolling, middle rolling and finishing rolling, each step is carefully controlled to ensure that the steel reaches the required thickness, width, length and flatness. Because of its high strength, high toughness, high wear resistance and corrosion resistance, it has a wide range of applications in modern industrial production, including automobile manufacturing, construction, shipbuilding and electronic equipment.

Classification

Weathering steel

Also known as COR-TEN steel, is a low alloy steel series between ordinary steel and stainless steel, with a carbon content of less than 0.2 percent by weight.

Control-rolled steel

It is a rolling method to improve the strength, toughness and other comprehensive properties of hot-rolled steel by using process measures such as strengthened pressing and controlled cooling under the condition of slightly lower than the conventional rolling temperature.

Pearlite-reduced steels

Low carbon content steels which lead to little or no pearlite, but rather a very fine grain ferrite matrix. It is strengthened by precipitation hardening.

Acicular ferrite steel

It is also a type of HSLA steel, which has excellent mechanical properties, especially toughness. It is mainly due to its chain structure, and can effectively prevent the expansion of cracks.

Dual-phase steel

Also known as multiphase steel, is composed of martensite, austenite or bainite and ferrite matrix two-phase structure of steel. It is usually obtained by low carbon steel or low alloy high strength steel after critical zone heat treatment or controlled rolling.

Microalloyed steel

It is a steel with trace alloying elements (mainly strong carbide forming elements, such as Nb, V, Ti, Al, etc.) added to the chemical composition of ordinary mild steel and ordinary high-strength low-alloyed steel matrix.
