The bar has been finger spliced. Finger splicing is a method of bonding pieces of lumber together to form a very long, straight bar, that actually makes it a stronger setting for your canvas.

Each bar's profile has a ½" rise to prevent sagging, and each bar is slightly rounded at the top edge, which is ideal for accommodating various canvas weights
