Lithopone
Also Known As: Zinc sulfide white
Molecular Formula: ZnS+BaSO4
Molecular Weight: 330.80
Physicochemical Properties: White powder, mixture of zinc sulfide and barium sulfate, relative density 4.136-4.39, insoluble in water; not react with sulfureted hydrogen and alkaline solution; while meeting with acid, easily to decompose to produce sulfureted hydrogen gas. It is easy to be oxidized in the air. Affected with damp, it will be caking and becomes deteroprate. It is stronger in whiteness and covering power. The more zinc sulfide it contains, the stronger covering power and the higher the quality.
Uses: Inorganic white pigment. Widely used as white pigment in polyolefins, vinyl ester resin, ABS resin, polystyrene, polycarbonate, nylon and polyformaldehyde, as well as plastics, paint and printing ink. And it is also used to color rubber articles, varnished cambric, leather, paper and enamel, etc.
