ROBOTIC AND INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION TecniKabel has always dedicated maximum commitment to solving problems tied to the use of cables in all sectors of industrial applications, developing three major families distinguished according to working environment and type of use: 1. O.R. (oil resistant) fixed-laid cables 2. Cables required to follow Cartesian movements, also available in an O.R. version 3. Cables subject to very fast bending-twisting movements, also available in an O.R. version When selecting the most suitable type of cable, factors such as acceleration, bending radius and length of the chain, both vertical and horizontal, must be taken into account. This set of parameters influences the life of the cable, determining the number of machine cycles that can be carried out without having to replace the cables. At the moment, the guaranteed number of cycles may vary from a minimum of 3 million to a maximum of 10 million. We are working towards a target of 20 million bending-twisting cycles which, in the production environment, means operating a robot for 5 years on 3 shifts without having to replace any cable, guaranteeing only efficient system lubrication. The characteristics of our cables are assessed with fatigue tests, carried out in our laboratory using bending-twisting simulators and chains with different bending radii and length. Current is passed through the cables and changes in their behavior are recorded on PC.
