Metallurgical coke is several coking coal according to certain proportion after high temperature carbonization hitches in coke oven coking solid carbonaceous materials generated, it has metallic luster, silver-grey commonly, hard and porous, surface crack. The production of metallurgical coke is mainly made of coking coal, suitable for the coal, coal and thin coal. After cooling, the metallurgical coke is graded and checked into the warehouse. In 2004, China's metallurgical output reached 195 million t. Metallurgical coke is mainly used in blast furnace ironmaking, fuel and reducing agent. In the production of carbon materials, metallurgical coke is the main raw material for the production of various kinds of carbon blocks and electrode paste. Meanwhile, metallurgical coke is used as the filling material for baking, graphitized resistance materials and insulation materials.
