Scrap preheating and continuous charging arc furnace takes advantage of high temperature flue gas in the forth hole to heat the furnace charge. Furnace charge into the preheating period meets furnace flue gas reversely. The furnace charge can be heated by afterheat of flue and gas and heat of CO combustion. Compared with direct melting scrap of traditional arc furnace, this arc furnace has those advantages: the smelting molten pool is stable; voltage fluctuation is small; power consumption is low; the cost of maintenance is low. This type arc furnace can improve production and save electric power. The production efficiency is high. Smelting period is short (40-65 min) to match with conticaster easily.
Horizontal scrap preheating temperature reaches over 5000℃. Per tonne steel saves electricity 80-100kwh. Operation of continuous charging arc furnace reduces the content of FeO in the residue and the loss of metal in slagging-off. Metal yield can be increased 1.5-2% and the metal yield can reach to 94%.
During the operation of continuous charging arc furnace, molten pool is in the state of refining continuously. Intense and continuous reaction between molten pool and residue makes sure the low content of FeO. Due to the function of C in the molten pool, FeO is close to balance
The arc furnace is in the state of heating the molten pool and “balanced molten pool” of melting furnace charge at the beginning of smelting.
Main technical parameter:
melting period time ≤ 60min (more than 60t)
power consumption ≤ 340Kwh/t (scrap steel operation)
consumption of electrode ≤ 1.7Kg/t
