Barley is a cereal grain derived from the annual grass, Hordeum Vulgare. Apart from being a major component of various health foods like soups, malts and beverages, it is also a major animal fodder. Barley can be fed at high level to stock because the gluten in it is less therefore making it easy to eat without it turning to thick jaw-aching glue. Used as animal feedstuff, it is softer and has better feeding quality than wheat.
